As well as the medical advice to be aware of when taking CBD there are some other aspects worth being aware of if you are new to CBD.
Firstly CBD is not suitable for pregnant or lactating women, or for children. Also if you have a medical condition or are taking regular medication, we would advise that you consult your doctor before taking CBD.
The key to taking CBD is to appreciate that our bodies are all different and we interact with any supplements in different ways depending on multiple factors. With CBD the final effect depends on factors such as weight, metabolism, pharmacological tolerance, genetics and difference sin our internal cannabinoid receptors.
The best way to find the best dosage is to start with a low dose and increase it slowly depending on the effects.
CBD oil can be taken in two ways. The first way is ‘sublingual’, ingesting drops of CBD oil by placing them under the tongue using a tincture. Drops placed under the tongue should be held there for between 60 and 90 seconds.
The second most effective way is referred to as ‘topical’, which involves rubbing the CBD Balm or Body Oil into your skin and onto aching muscles and joints. In this instance the CBD is directly absorbed through the skin, without it entering the bloodstream.
Since topical CBD oil doesn’t enter the bloodstream, there’s no need to worry about the dosage with the ranges of products designed to apply to your body, or for instance CBD bath salts.
With sublingual oils that are available in the tinctures we offer, we advise you to start low and go slow. Enjoy regularly as a part of your daily routine, listen to your body’s reaction, and take it from there.
The recommended dosage for a CBD oil can vary depending on its strength and so look out for how many milligrams of CBD the tincture contains. Some are as low as 250mg of CBD and go up to 1,000mg for a 10ml tincture.
There are approximately 200 drops of CBD oil in a 10ml tincture and we advise taking no more than 20 drops per day at varying intervals (or less for higher strength products). In February 2020, the Food Standards Agency advised that healthy adults should not more than 70mg of CBD in a single day.
For a 500mg strength CBD tincture there are 2.5mg of CBD per drop.
For a 500mg strength CBD tincture there are 5mg of CBD per drop.
